Buddy came to Foxfield from a school in Ojai in the winter of 2005. Because of all the rain we had that year, he was not able to go into many lessons for quite awhile. Then a young girl rode him a few times and fell in love with him. That girl was Lauren Bell, and she nominated him as Horse of the Month.
Lauren describes Buddy as
...a 16 hand bay gelding (who is) the sweetest thing on the face of this planet. Whenever I see him he just makes me so happy. He’s truly like a person to me. I had him for a year and two months, and it was probably the best year of my life. He has changed my life completely and I will always remember him.
He has such a caring heart. He has never disappointed me...everything I have ever done with him, he succeeded, no matter how long it took. He loves anyone who will love him.
I think that if any rider at Foxfield got on Buddy and rode him, he would try just as hard for every single rider. All he lives for is to try his hardest and to please the rider.
He has taught me so much more about horseback riding than I thought I would ever know. Buddy honestly taught me what love is and how to love. I will always love Buddy, and will always try to take care of him. He is truly an angel that was sent to me from Heaven.
I believe that I found him for a reason. He helped me through so many of the hard times in my life last year because he was always there for me. Buddy has never made a mistake in his entire life. He is perfect and I will never stop loving him until the day I die. I hope that all the riders at Foxfield will soon learn how amazing this horse is once they ride him.
When asked about how he is to ride Lauren said:
When I first got him, he would chase his tail in circles for about 5 minutes straight. He used to be so nervous, but he eventually got calmer and trusting. He has the most amazing stride for a horse of his size. He tries his hardest at everything he does, and has never disappointed me. He has such a smooth canter and trot. He really is perfect. He is an expert at cross country (he jumps all the banks and ditches.)
There is not much more we can add to that!
