Bear is a registered Hanoverian who was donated to Foxfield in 1996 by a girl who could no longer ride him because she went to college in the midwest and no one else in her family rode horses.
Her trainer was familiar with our program and convinced her that he would have a good life here.
While she had him they competed regularly in A-rated shows, both on the flat and over fences. His original show name of "Fabelhaft" (German for "wonderful or marvelous") described him perfectly, according to his owner. She had a hard time giving him up, but knew that he would be loved.
Shortly after he arrived at Foxfield he was leased by Lauren Mourmouris, who gave him his current show name of "Redwood." Together they were very successful in the show ring, especially at the Santa Barbara Amateur Horse Show where they were champions in both hunters and equitation.
As you can see by the nomination that follows, Bear has some real fans in the school and in camp. He is happy doing his job in the Dressage Ring, and loves living outside with his buddies.
Hopefully he will be with us for many more years. We were certainly lucky to get him!
