In the early 90’s a trio of horses arrived at Foxfield – a mother
(Sassy) and her two young daughters (Tinkertoy and Bambi). Sassy and
Tinker have gone on to other places, but Bambi has stayed the course,
teaching a generation of kids to ride.
This pretty roan pony is always signed up for lessons because, as
8-year-old K. C. Hanke says, “She LOVES to jump...I can trust her, I
feel safe on her.”
Although Bambi was leased in the past by a few young riders,
including Doryl Brooks, Jessica Parsons and Emily Franko, she has found
a great home in the school. She seems to enjoy having kids pick her for
their lessons.
Bambi is also a popular mount in camp. Although she goes out in a
lesson about five days a week, she seems to thrive on all the work.
She is one of those special school horses that is as happy with a small
western saddle as she is jumping around the Dressage Ring.
We think if Sassy were still here she would be proud!
